Enlisted into the marines 27 October 1913, aged 19 years 6 months 19 days. Resided at Cultra, occupation railway signalman. Posted R.M. Depot at Deal, Kent 27 October 1913 to 19 August 1914.

Posted to HMS Victory (R.M.Brigade) 12 September 1914 to his death 15 September 1915.
19 September to 12 October 1914 served at Dunkirk on the Defence of Antwerp
15 July 1915 awarded certificate by G.O.C Royal Navy Division for courageous and gallant conduct in the field.
Fell in action in the great war 15 September 1915 aged 22 at Gallipoli.
Commemorated on his parents’ headstone in Holywood Cemetery, Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland. Interred in 2 Pink Farm, Cape Helles Gallipoli.
