Miscellaneous military image - damages warship
Extended Description
While searching files for book images, I found a number of miscellaneous images like this. Unfortunately, I failed to record which ship is shown.

My records show it as the japanese aircraft carrier Amagi, of the Unryū class. Laid down in October 1942 and launched a year later, it was completed and delivered on 10th of August 1944.

The photo was taken in 1946 in Kure Bay, still capsized on its side awaiting final scrapping, in the place where it remained after the bombings of 24th and 28th of July, in which the ship was hit repeatedly.

The ship was abandoned by its crew, already listing significantly after the attack on the 24th, due to the catastrophic damage suffered during the bombing, in particular the damages caused by an Avenger's 2,000-pound bomb that destroyed most of the upper hangar deck and bulged the flight deck for 200 feet.
Still afloat, the subsequent bombing on the 28th further aggravated the damage, causing the ship to capsize around the 10:00 AM on the 29th.
