Patience Mary (Patty) HERON. Born 1923 in Ratcliffe on Trent to Edith Mary, nee Johnston and Captain George Christopher Hamilton Heron, Royal Army Ordnance Corps. Died in Malta 2 February and laid to rest 4 February 1927 aged 4 years.

He was born 1898 at Huscorth, Yorkshire to Thomas and Ethel Mary Heron, nee Monks. 1901 he was residing with his parents and brother Gerard at Military married quarters at Stanhope and Wellington Lines Aldershot, Hampshire. His father was a Colonel with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. 1911 residing with his parents and brother at Round Cross, Park Lane Chestnut, Hertfordshire. His father had retired from the army.
He served in France 11 August 1918 as Lieutenant 17th Lancers attached to the R.A.O.C.

An engagement is announced between Lieutenant G C H Heron 17 Lancers (Ordnance College) younger son of Brigadier General Sir Thomas Heron, K.B.E, C.B., and Lady Heron of Round croft, Chestnut Herts and Miss Mary Edith Johnston, eldest daughter of the late R.H. Johnston, F.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., Maidstone and late Mrs Johnston. 1921 He married Edith Mary Johnston in the Registration district of Kensington.

Temporary Lieutenant Colonel RAOC, George Christopher Hamilton Heron. This Officer has shown exceptional zeal and organising ability in building up No5 B.O.D. from small beginning into a full Base Ordnance Depot in a very short space of time. By his example and enthusiasm, he has infused into all his Officers and Men a similar spirit. He has taken the initiative and done a great deal of initial work in establishing and organising the R.A.O.C. Middle East School of Instruction.
He, his wife and two children, Thomas G and Barbara J all returned from Malta 4 April 1927 and disembarked at Plymouth, bound for Round Croft, Chestnut, Hertfordshire.
He died 8 November 1972. His residence was 27 High Hurst Close, Newick Lewes, East Sussex
