- G008 Augustus Samuel LAYLAND. Private PO8135 Royal Marine Light Infantry serving on HMS Vulcan in Malta. Born 3 November 1876, baptised 29 November 187 at St Thomas Church, Portman Square, Marylebone, London to Augustus and Emily Georgina Layland nee Redgrave. At the time of his baptism he was residing with his parents at 81 Wigmore Street, Marylebone. 1891 residing with his parents and siblings at 59 The Grove, Hammersmith, London. Enlisted 11 September 1895 at Royal Marine Depot, Walmer, Kent. Died in Royal Navy Hospital, Bighi, Malta of subacute meningitis.
At rest in an unnamed burial in Plot G Grave 8, Capuccini Naval Cemetery, Malta.
