It is Crucifix and was unveiled in the grounds of St Chad, Freehay on the Monday the 27th of November 1922 by Commander Anstey of Thornbury Hall, Cheadle. It was dedicated by the Ven, the Archdeacon of Stoke on Trent in memory of the men of this parish who gave their lives in the war 1914-1918
