First women qualified Paratrooper in South Africa

Sergeant Suzan Johannes (27), a member of 10 Anti Aircraft Regiment in Kimberley, was the first woman in the history of 44 Parachute Regiment to successfully complete the basic static line Parachute course and so earn her 'wings', on the 4th of August 2005.

251 soldiers started the course on the 6th of July 2005 and only 56 completed the selection.

Sergeant Johannes is a wife and a mother of two.
