Ernest Murdock COSTELLO

Extended Description: Ernest Murdock COSTELLO. Ranger 24109212, Royal Irish Rangers. Stationed at Barrosa Barracks in Hemer, Germany. His memorial states that he was killed on active service in West Germany 28 March 1973 aged 21 years.

There were no conflicts in West Germany after WW2.

At rest in Roselawn Cemetery, Ballygowan Road, Crossnacreevy, County Down.

Likely a victim of the IRA considering he is listed as Killed in Action. Members of the British army too were shot and killed in the GDR by IRA terrorists.
