The following information is regarding their father -
Staff Sgt Bertram Edward ESSEX. Born at Highgate, London 25th May 1861, son of William Edward and Mary/Fanny . In 1891 he was stationed Seaforth Barracks, Merseyside, Lancashire with his wife Jean Cameron nee Martin who he married on the 27th April 1885 at St Giles Church, Whittington, Lichfield, Staffordshire and his two children, Elsie Cameron and Stanley Pelham. In 1893 stationed in Malta with his family. In 1911 he is now Captain, Quartermaster aged 59 stationed in Egypt with the Royal Army Medical Corps, where he died in 1912.
(Wills and Admin, Ancestry) - Bertram Edward Essex, of The Citadel, Cairo, Egypt, Captain, Royal Army Medical Corps died 15th December 1912 at the Citadel Hospital, Cairo. His effects went to his widow, Jean Cameron Essex.
London Gazette dated 5th December 1899. He is at rest in in Misr Al Qadimah, War Cemetery, Cairo.

His widow Jean Cameron Essex of 17, Margaret Road, Harrogate died 22nd October 1948. Her effect went to Bertram Edward Essex, Air Commodore, Royal Air Force.
