EDMUND CONNOR, JOHN LYDON, WILLIAM OAKES,

E. EA. A. 676. Edmund CONNOR. Private 403, 28th Australian Infantry. Born in Toronto, Canada and enlisted at Kalgoorlie, Western Australia 3rd March 1915. He was aged 42, occupation, engine fitter and worked at Toronto Junction, Canada. His next of kin was his uncle, William Bennett of the Rising Sun Hotel, Kalgoorlie. He had previously served seven years with the Irish Fusiliers, Toronto.
He embarked from Freemantle on H.M.A.T. Ascanius bound for Egypt 29th June 1915 bound for Alexandria, Egypt. 4th September 1915 he embarked with the battalion from Alexandria bound for Gallipoli on H.T Ivernia. He was taken ill suffering with gastric enteritis 20th October 1915 at the Gallipoli Peninsula and treated at 3rd Field Ambulance. 27th October he was transferred to 13th Casualty Clearing Station. He was invalided to Malta 29th October on Hospital Ship, Rewa and admitted into hospital 2nd November 1915. He died at Military Hospital St Andrews, Malta 7th November 1915 from dysentery.

E. EA. A. 676. John LYDON. Private 4978, 1st Lancashire Fusiliers. Died 7th November 1915 in Malta from injuries at Gallipoli. Born 1880 at Warrington, Lancashire to Lawrence and Mary Lydon. In 1901 aged 21 he was residing with his parents and siblings at 43 Greenall Street, Warrington, occupation, farm labourer. His mother Mary and son John were granted a war gratuity 7 April 1920.

E. EA. A. 676. William OAKES. Private 24083, 14th Manchester Regiment. Died 8th November 1915 of dysentery in a hospital in Malta. His widow Berta nee Mason who he married 26 December 1905 at Weaste, St Luke, Lancashire, was granted a war gratuity 14 February 1916 revised 28 August 1919, she was then called Bertha Easton.
