Born 1867 to Devie and Louisa Dorey of Guernsey Island.
Guernsey 1871 with his parents and siblings at 48 Victoria Road, St Peter Port, Guernsey Island.
Wife of Sergeant Arthur Owen DAVIES, Royal Garrison Artillery
Married 13 May 1902 at Wesleyan Methodist Church, Floriana, Malta. Died 1st December 1910 aged 42 and 8 months. Native of Guernsey, at rest in Ta Braxia Cemetery, Malta.

Some notes from what remains of Sergeant Davies's army records.

He was born in 1876 in Wales and in 1881 he was living with his parents Alfred John and Elizabeth at 12 Kiskin Road, Ystradyfodwg, Pontypridd. On the 11th December 1893 aged 18 he joined the Royal Artillery at Pontypridd, he occupation prior to enlistment was a collier. His father, Alfred John was his next of kin and he was living at Ynyscynon Road, Trealaw, Rhondda. He was posted as Gunner 1310 to Crownhill Fort, Plymouth. He was promoted to Bombardier on the 24th April 1901, extended his service to complete 12 years with the colours on the 22nd October 1901. 23rd July 1902 promoted to Corporal, 18th July re-engaged to complete 21 years service with the colours. Finally promoted to Sergeant on the 24th April 1910 while serving with 63 Company, Royal Garrison Artillery
He served in India from the 6th October 1896 to 14th November 1898, Aden from the 15th November 1898 to 1st December 1901. Malta from the 2nd December 1901 to 25th November 1903, Then to looks like Hosk?? on the 26th November 1903 to 9th September 1909. Malta from the 19th September 1909 to 16th September 1911. Soudan Detachment, Royal Garrison Artillery from 17th September 1911 to 1st February 1912. England from the 2nd February 1912 to 17th February 1912 when he was discharged at his own request from Gosport. His discharge home address was given as 24 Glamorgan Terrace, Llwynypia, Rhondda.
He was married as bombardier on the 13th May 1902 at Wesleyan Methodist Church, Florina, Malta to Edith Elizabeth Dorey, spinster.
At the start of World War One he re-joined aged 38 years and 8 months at Tonypandy on the 3rd August 1914 as Gunner 278078, Royal Garrison Artillery. His occupation a van driver for a local baker and he lived with his second wife, Jane, nee Davies who he married on the 1st August 1912 at Pontypridd.
And was living at 24 Glamorgan Terrace Llwynypia, Rhondda, South Wales. Their children were called, Arthur Glynn born 18th February 1914 and Gwilym Owen born 9th January 1918. Births registered in Pontypridd
He was posted to No 3 Depot, Royal Garrison Artillery, Plymouth the following day as Sergeant. On the 14th October 1914 he was posted to 17 New Heavy Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. The following year he was posted to France with 17th Battery, New Heavy Battery on the 7th October 1915. While in France he went sick suffering from Myalgia on the 21 October 1916. Cause, exposure and strain due to the work required to be done . He was treated at 8th General Hospital, Rouen, transferred to No 6 General Hospital, Rouen. On the 26th November 1916 he was medically evacuated on Hospital Ship, Asturias (http://www.roll-of-honour.com/Ships/HMHSAsturias.html) to No 2 Southern General Hospital, Bristol. He was discharged from hospital and posted to No 2 Depot, Royal Garrison Artillery Fort Rowner on the 1st December 1916. 19th December 1916 he was posted to Command Depot, Royal Artillery at Ripon. (military convalescent camp) He was then posted to 19th Company, Royal Garrison Artillery. He was for some reason now with the Military Foot Party as Sergeant on the 1st July 1917. He attended his medical board at the Auxillary Hospital, Woolwich on the 9th January 1919 and transferred to Class Z, Army Reserve (Pension) on the 13th February 1919 at Dover Castle to his home at 24 Glamorgan Terrace. He died on the 3rd May 1949 at his home, 15 Inverleith Terrace, Llwynypia aged 73, his wife was still alive.
