E005 Ivan Sidney Henry PALMER, Flying-Officer, Pilot 403783, Royal Australian Air Force. Born 25 August 1910 at Levuka, Fiji Island to Agnes Alice and Henry Boys Hartly Palmer. The husband of Monica Betty Palmer, of Epsom, New Zealand who he married 18 July 1940. He enlisted 3 March 1931, occupation, journalist and aviation correspondent. He was promoted to Leading Aircraftman 26 April 1941 and Sergeant Pilot 21 November 1941. He had flown Tiger Moth, Avro Anson and Airspeed Oxford. On the 4 October 1941 at L.A.C. was guilty of neglect which caused damage to His Majesty’s Aircraft. (taxied an aircraft at an excessive rate of speed causing damage to two other aircraft. At his trial 6 October 1941 he was confined to barracks for 14 days (14 days C.B.) Died 6th January 1943 aged 32 years. He was crew of a Beufighter which had been involved in air operations and crash landed at 2.30 pm at Krerdi, Malta along with Sergeant, observer 931494 J C Trotman who survived.
