Douglas TBD-1 "Devastator" torpedo plane

That's interesting too, that they are all in the cockpit.

I only found out in about the last ten years that there is a prone position crew station for the bombardier in the belly of the Devastator. If you root around the web enough you can see the window at the front of that position, directly under the feet of the pilot. It sure does explain the weird "pooch belly" look of the aircraft.

What I'm getting at is that the bombardier would normally be down in the belly to do the aiming, right?
