Extended Description: Marine Derek Edward BURTENSHAW PO/X6136, S Troop, 40 Royal Marines Commando. Born 20th May 1929 died 17th May 1953 aged 24 years as the result of an air crash at Luqa airport 17th May 1953 involving “S” Troop in transit for Suez. A Valetta aircraft (70 Squadron) hit the runway control caravan and burst into flames .Inscription on his memorial Forever in our thoughts, Mum - Dad- Vera.
He was the son of Edward Victor Burtenshaw and May Evelyn nee Harris
At rest in Plot 1 Row 7 Grave 9, Imtarfa Military Cemetery, Malta.
