Lance Corporal 17569 Alfred Boyd DEARDEN. 14th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1887 at Manchester to Alfred and Minnie Dearden, of 63 Burmah Street, Belfast. Killed in action 1 July 1916 aged 29 years. His mother was granted a war gratuity 11 July 1917 revised 8 October 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Captain John Ernest MOTHERWELL. Captain. 3rd Royal Irish Rifles attached to 9th The Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. Born 1887 to David and Catherine Motherwell, of 7 Somerset Terrace, Belfast. Killed in action 21 October 1916 aged 29 years. At rest in Regina Trench Cemetery, Grandcourt, Somme, France.

Rifleman 4745 Andrew RANSON. A Coy 8th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1887 to Susan Esther (Essy), nee Cochrane and Andrew Ranson of 53 Ravenhill Road, Belfast. Killed in action 2 July 1916 aged 29 years. His mother was granted a war gratuity 9 August 1917, revised 18 October 1919. At rest in Grandcourt Road Cemetery, Grandcourt, Somme, France.

Private 3582 Alexander FINLAY. 2nd Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born 1892 at Ballymacarrett to Susan and John Finlay of 52 Carrington Street, Belfast. Killed in action 10 July 1916 aged 24 years. His father was granted a war gratuity 22 January 1917 revised 24 September 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Private 26052 Arthur SHIELDS. 1st Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born 1899 at Ballymacarret, Belfast to Jane Morrison, nee Jamison and Arthur Shields of 38 Dunvegan Street, Belfast. Enlisted 16 February 1915 into the 8th Royal Irish Rifles give number 3799 and Private at the Old Town Hall (where?) Belfast aged 19 years and 6 months. Residence 38 Dunvegan Street, Belfast, occupation, labourer. At Ballykinlar Training Camp, County Down, Ireland he was discharged 16 June 1915, having made a misstatement as to his age on enlistment. Correct age was 16 years and 10 months. No other army record was found for him. He was killed in action 25 September 1916 aged 17 years. His father was granted a war gratuity 12 March 1917 revised 19 September 1919. At rest in Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Rifleman 12847 Wallace GREER. 8th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1897 to Mrs Mary Greer of Shaftesbury Avenue, Belfast. Killed in action 2 July 1916 aged 19 years. His mother was granted a war gratuity 14 March 1918 revised 7 October 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Rifleman 17409 William CAMPBELL. 14th Royal Irish Rifles. Born at Ballymacarrett, Belfast 1893 to Jane, nee Wilson and William Campbell of Authuille House, 71 Hillsborough Drive, Belfast. In Irish 1901 census he was residing with his parents and siblings at 37 Ballymaglaff, County Down, 1911 residing with his parents at 99 Ogilvie Street, Belfast., occupation aged 16 years apprentice book binder. Killed in action 1 July 1916 aged 23 years. His father was granted a war gratuity 1 July 1917 revised 30 September 1919. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Private 22623 Ernest ADAMS. D Coy 9th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born 1894 Charles J. and Mary Adams of 21 Willowfield Drive, Belfast. Enlisted November 1914. Died 1 July 1916 aged 22 years. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Lance Corporal 18320 William McKEOWN. 14th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1892 to F.R. and Aggno McKeown of 6 Cregagh Road, Belfast. Died 1 July 1916 aged 24 years. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Rifleman 13455 John ROSS. C Coy 8th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1882 to George and Mary Ross, of Ballynafeigh, Belfast. Husband of Frances Ross, of 77, Ardenvohr Street Belfast. Served 12 years in Royal Field Artillery in India, also in the South African campaign. Died 7 July 1916 aged 34 years. At rest in Puchevillers British Cemetery, Somme, France.

Second Lieutenant Stanley Woods MAXWELL. B Coy 8th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1891 to Samuel and Agnes Maxwell, of Calloden, North Parade, Belfast. Died 27 July 1916 aged 25 years. At rest in St. Souplet British Cemetery, Nord, France.

Private 11924 Hugh GORMAN. 7th Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. Born 1895 to William and Elizabeth Gorman of 119 Walmer Street, Ballynafeigh, Belfast. Died 27 April 1916 aged 21 years. At rest in Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe, Pas de Calais, France.

William RAVEY. Rifleman 853, D" Coy. 8th Royal Irish Rifles. Born 8 June 1890 at 20 Chadolly Street, East Belfast to John and Elizabeth Ravey, nee Hughes. At the time of his death his parents were residing at of 133, Parkgate Avenue, Belfast. 9 July 1912 he married Agnes Glenn at the Cregagh Church, parish of Knockbreda, Belfast. He was residing with his parents at 127 Park Gate Avenue, Belfast, occupation plumber, possible at the Belfast ship yard along with his father who was riveter. At the time of his death his wife was residing at 34, Glenvarlock Street, Belfast, Ireland. Killed in action in France 2 July 1916 aged 26. His widow was granted a war gratuity 11 July 1917, revised 13 October 1919. Commemorated on a family memorial in Plot D4. Grave 570, Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Northern Ireland also on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.

Rifleman 14985 John JEFFS. D Coy 14 Royal Irish Rifles. Born 1895 to Richard and Margaret Jeffs of 23 The Mount, Belfast. Died 1 July 1916 aged 21 years. Commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
