After Remembrance, 2007

After Remembrance we all walk away
Back to our lives, for which they gave
Their Life, their Blood, their bodies torn
Their shattered minds so alone

Remember the Dead, but the Living too
Deserve Remembrance, a thought from you
Wounded and scarred, they live each day
With Wars memory, the price they pay

Some whose wounds, the unseen kind
Each day bring battle, within their mind
Still they serve, the ranks they fill
Do their duty, our countrys will

One day a year, at eleventh hour
We bow our heads, and lay a flower
We speak the words, to honour the dead
Lest we forget, or so it is said

Do not forget them, those who remain
Who live in fear, who live in pain
Be grateful to them, here today
And remember them too, as you walk away
Great Pic and a brilliant poem mate (Y)

Who wrote that?, don think ive ever read that before

Excellent Poem, simple yet effective. Thanks to the Author and the Poster.

Lest We Forget.

Thanks for that, guys. Believe it or not, it's mine. The first few lines just popped into my head as I was standing there waiting to take this pic and watching the crowds, Ex-Servicemen and youth organisations march away. In just a few minutes, the memorial was deserted once again. I kept working on it in my mind and had mostly finished it by the time I got home.
