Charles George MOON. Corporal 2739, 24th Royal Fusiliers (2nd Sportsman Battalion). Born 1895 and baptised 25 December 1895 in St Mary church Ilkeston to Arthur Henry and Mary Tamar Moon, nee Gregory. 1901 with his mother, stepfather John Brimson and half sibling Gladys Lillian Brimson visiting the home of George and Eliza Clay in Hockerton, Nottinghamshire. 1911 residing with his mother, stepfather and half sibling at Holmside, Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire. Occupation, lace embroidery draftsman.
Died of wounds at Douai after being taken a prisoner of war 2 May 1917 aged 22. His mother Mary Tamar Brimson was granted a war gratuity 18 January 1918 revised 23 October 1919.
Commemorated on a family memorial in Park Cemetery, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. At rest in Douai Communal Cemetery, France.
