Major Charles Andrews BAYLEY. C.M.G. Inspector of Police and Lieutenant Governor Commanding Troops on the island of Gozo. Formerly of the 25th and 36th Regiments of Foot. When he was a Major he was appointed Companions.
Government Notice - In reference to the provisional appointment of Major Charles Andrews Bayley as Lieutenant Governor and Military Commandant of the Islands of Gozo and Comino, dated 10 October 1826. His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor is pleased to notify, that His Majesty has been pleased to issue his warrant under the sign Manual dated 3 May 1827 duly appointing Major Bayley the Lieutenant Governor of the said Island. (signed at) Palace Valletta 20 May 1828 by Command of His Excellency, Fred Hankey, Chief Secretary to Government. Died 13th August 1852 aged 70 years
