Arthur William WESTGATE

Extended Description: Arthur William WESTGATE. Sergeant, Air Gunner 403630, Royal New Zealand Air Force. Attached to 14 Operational Training Unit, RAF Little Rissington, Gloucestershire. Son of William Arthur and Alice Mary Westgate, of Tikitiki, Auckland, New Zealand. 25 March 1942 he was crew of four of a Handley-Page Hampden I P5398 which took off from RAF Cottesmore on a night navigation sortie. At 2110 the aircraft plunged into the ground and caught fire at Whittle Farm, Brockhampton, 5 miles east of Cheltenham. The crew died at the scene; he was aged 25.

At rest in St Peter Churchyard, Little Rissington, Gloucestershire.
