Arthur CARTLIDGE. Private 40121, 1st South Staffordshire Regiment
Born 1884 to Mary Ann Cartlidge, of 57, Stoke Old Road, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
In 1910 he married Mary Ann Cole at Holy Trinity Church, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent. In 1920 his widow remarried to Thomas Gibson and she was residing at 9, Cartlidge Street, Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent.
Killed in action 26 October 1917 aged 33. His widow was granted a war gratuity 30 January 1919 revised 15 December 1919. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
This poppy cross was at the Staffordshire Regiment Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire on the 11 November 2018
