Archibald BOWE

This wreath is laid for the below named by his Great Grandaughters, Ms Young and McAlpine He is as rest along with two others, not of the same regiment..

BOWE Archibald. Company Sergeant Major, 3/7778, 12th, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was accidentally killed 25th July 1917, aged 44 years. He was the husband of Margaret Bowe, of 19 Charles Street, Kilsyth, Glasgow. Inscribed on his stone. "Gone dear father, gone for ever. Never shall thy memory fade from widow and three children". At rest in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta. Some notes from what remains of his army record. He re- enlisted to the colours on the 6th October 1914. He was aged 39 and 300 days, and worked as clerk. He was married and is living with his family at 19, Charles Street, Kilsyth. He had previously served with Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and was discharged to pension and the termination of his service with the colours. When he re enlisted on the 6th October he was promoted to Sergeant 7778. Posted to the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force on the 19th September 1915. On the 29th March 1916 he was promoted to C.S.M. He was accidentally killed by a fall in Malta on the 25th July 1917. He left a wife and three daughters. Eliza Margaret, born 21st January 1911, James, born 14th November 1913 and Margaret Kitchener Bowe in 1916. His father was called James.
