His service records show that he enlisted 09 April 1915 age 19 at Newport, Monmouthshire.
Embarked for France 04 December 1915. Wounded 10 July 1916, shrapnel wound to left foot. 04 December 1917 received a serious gunshot wound to his head whilst in action at Cambrai. He was invalided to England, 12 July 1916. On the 11 August 1918 he was a Medical Board at Reading War Hospital. He was found unfit for further military service and was medical discharged to his home the 04 September 1918. Died 30 November 1919 aged 22. A war gratuity was granted 24 April 1920 to his mother.

Died at 09.05am of Bronco pneumonia following wounds at Seymour Park Hospital, Manchester 30 October 1918 aged 19. A war gratuity was granted to his father.

Enlisted 26 February 1914 as Boy 2nd Class. 20 August 1910 promoted as Ordinary Seaman, now of age for regular navy. 06 May 1912 now Able Seaman. He was seriously wounded from shrapnel from a shell explosion on board Liberty in action of Heligoland on 28 August 1915. He at some date had his left ankle amputated.
At time of death his father was residing at 363, Osler Avenue, Toronto, Canada. Husband of W. J. Anderson, of 135, South Esk Road, Forest Gate, Essex.
Died of sickness 08 October 1919 aged 27.
