I assume, without knowing any of the language, that some of the words written on the vehicles must be insults against the invaders, could someone (not translate them) but confirm this statement?

That is accurate. It is frequently stated that Soviet soldiers became especially pissed off when the protesters started drawing swastikas on their vehicles.
