Parts from several Devonport-based ships have been removed because of a shortage of Royal Navy equipment.

The practice, known as 'storob', is supposed to be a last resort, but it is now being used on scores of vessels.

These include the amphibious assault vessel HMS Bulwark, which was cannibalised before being brought into service earlier this year.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) also admitted that HMS Albion, one of its newest ships, has also been affected.
