All my friends, I have a question to ask you, in your respective countries, what does the admission of a young person to the officer or non-commissioned officer training school cost? is free? Do you have any financing system by social strata?

In Colombia, free programs are being sought in the programs offered by the training schools for officers and non-commissioned officers of the military forces and national police, but until now the entry processes, entry costs and a semi-annual payment are charged, as If you were studying at a civil university, is there something similar in your countries?

Or the sunk cost of training a pilot or something?

In the UK there isn't military university as in West Point where officers go for 4 years.

Good morning friend, thank you for your answer, the question is regarding the initial training of the officer or non-commissioned officer in their training schools, as well as for pilots or military sailors.
Since you name UK, do you have to pay to train as an officer or non-commissioned officer?

No. No one pays to join the UK armed forces.

Each service has thier own Officer training establishments, likewise Non commisioned basic training "depots". NCOs only get NCO training as they advance up the career ladder, again, all free.

This is dependent on their assigned career field. Certain MOS's officer and enlisted/NCO alike are going to be more funded than others due to the roles that they serve. For instance, you are not needing a high budget for training a quartermaster officer or a supply SGT compared to a tanker or a pilot for a few instances.

And like the other fellow explained that's also the same here in the USA, we don't pay for these schools. It's all provided for us at the taxpayer expense.

However there are certain off things like going to schools that's not mil funded and is for professional self development like carbine courses, first aid, gunsmithing, or anything else that falls within supporting their assigned MOS's. These things can be added to evaluation reports to help promote this serviceman ahead of his peers.
