We saw that last time, and it cost them an entire battery

In almost two years, after downing countless rockets and planes. If I am just totally unemotional for a moment, I'd say: What a great trade!

S

someone has a plan. Otherwise very little point in sinking these, when the bridge still stands.

I though so as well and wondered why Ukraine is shooting at scrap metal, when there won't be any amphibious operations.

But thinking twice, they can deliver a real lot of supplies via these landing ships as opposed to the Kerch bridge or the land bridge via Mariupol. So I guess it's attacking logistics rather than attacking an amphibious force. That said it seems they smoked the Black Sea Fleet command center as well, so even if the ships are indeed a floating junkyard, the attack was efficient nonetheless.

yeah. the out of ammo S**t is becoming a running gag in this conflict.

In late 2022 obervers claimed Russia was about to run out of missiles....
In early 2024 the same experts claim Ukraine runs out of ammo.
Guess what, neither happened.

It seems if any side captures some more or less important, sometimes even tiny bitof territory, these "experts" construct some bs theory around it, which seems to be random guess work.

7 out of 13 military landing craft sunk.

Which equates to 40% of total lift capacity sunk.

Clearly a priority target for Ukr to cutoff logistics to Russian held Crimea.

agreed. Thinking of those as huge transport ships makes more sense than in amphibious assault ships and suddenly theit sinking makes a lot of sense

Is Russia building new production lines for ammunition?

Or did they just expand what they had there?

In the meantime the Czechs found 700000 additional shells.

Totalling 1.5 mill.

Many new production capacities are set up for Ukraine and various Western ammo producers are expanding their current production.

Rheinmetall

New plant at Unterlüß - 6 figure capacity from 2025 on
New plant in Ukraine - 6 figure capacity per year

Czechoslovak Group

New plant in Ukraine

STV Group increased production

Nammo increased production

US Army OIB

increases production to 1 mill. year currently

And there may still be others I don't know. Like South Korean or other nations also producing 155 mm shells.

I'd imagine this wreckage might be working it's way west for evaluation.

In a text i read a while ago, someone wrote, as long as the orcs have large Landing Ships, it makes no sense to destroy the bridge... Something like this.

And I think to destroy a bridge of this size in such a way that it can't be rebuilt / repaired, you need something of a larger calibre like a Taurus and then not just one but several of them. As far as i read in several sources.

Footage from the first captured German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle in Ukraine. The Marder infantry fighting vehicle was adopted by Germany in 1971 and is armed with a 20 mm gun; technical information about it is on the channel. Previously, the Ukrainian army received about 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles from Germany. Visually, the combat vehicle is almost operational and has full ammunition. The combat vehicle was damaged in the Avdiivka direction and got stuck in the mud; later Ukrainian units tried to destroy it. The evacuation of the Ukrainian Marder infantry fighting vehicle was reportedly carefully planned by the Russian army. The military carried out reconnaissance, engineers paved a new road, and sappers cleared minefields. Only after access to the vehicle was secured was it evacuated from the battlefield at night with the help of a tank. The vehicle will not be used in combat; presumably, the Marder BMP will be sent for study to Russia or shelling at a training ground.

Clearly they can, but possibly Russia build some spare road deck modules, after the last attack. So maybe they only want to close it when they need to. The ships, once sunk are gone.

I really dont see how Putin keeps going, if this was a business, every day a disaster, costs, no gains, and really irreplaceable(i.e. Soviet funded mostly) assets lost.

Because he knows that if he stops he is doomed?
